Yang Ming Marine Transport Corp. has announced an expansion to its Southeast Asia service with a new operation connecting Indonesia - Singapore/Malaysia - Thailand Service).

Increased demand in route

The Taiwanese shipping logistics firm said in a statement that the launch of the service - set to start on November 12 - was driven by the steady economic growth and foreign trade between Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand.

Yang Ming said three container ships with loadable capacity of 1,180 TEU each will be deployed for ITS service. The full port rotation will be Singapore, Port Kelang, Semarang, Surabaya, Port Kelang, and Singapore, Laem Chabang, Bangkok, Laem Chabang and Singapore.

With the new service, Yang Ming said it can penetrate the markets in Indonesia and Thailand further. It will also connect Yang Ming’s global service network via transit hubs Singapore and Port Kelang.

The company currently offers nine regional services in Southeast Asia and will increase options for customers to directly access Thailand and Indonesia.

China - Vietnam - Cambodia service

Earlier this month, Yang Ming also launched a China - Vietnam - Cambodia service (CVK), which took effect from October 21, citing strong cargo volumes in the area.

The port rotation of CVK service is Ningbo, Shanghai, Xiamen, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh, Sihanoukville, Ho Chi Minh, Hong Kong, Ningbo - making it the first service that directly links China’s ports, Da Nang and Sihanoukville.

The launch of CVK service, it said then, will significantly shorten the transit time and offer more efficient delivery service between China, Vietnam and Cambodia.

Yang Ming operates a fleet of 101 vessels with an operating capacity 673,000 TEU.

In addition to its current Intra-Asia service network of 45 services, Yang Ming said it continues to strengthen its coverage in the area and expanding its global service network.
