MSC 'MEGAMAX' PROGRAMME CONTINUES PROGRESS

By mid-November 2019, Mediterranean Shipping Co (MSC) will have phased in seven of the 11 new Megamax 24 vessels – the largest container ships ever built.

 

The seven vessels will be phased in to Asia-Europe services operated by the 2M lines (Maersk and MSC) following delivery by South Korean shipbuilders Samsung and Daewoo.

Service deployment and phase in dates of the first seven of the 11 Megamax 24 vessels on the 2M Asia-Europe service portfolio are as follows:

  • MSC Gülsün, 23,756 TEUs, phased in at Tianjin on the AE10/Silk service on July 8 following completion by Samsung.
  • MSC Mina, 23,656 TEUs, phased in at Tianjin on the AE10/Silk service on July 29 following completion by Daewoo.
  • MSC Samar, 23,756 TEUs, phased in at Tianjin on the AE10/Silk service on August 4 following completion by Samsung.
  • MSC Isabella, 23,656 TEUs, phased in at Qingdao on the AE2/Swan service on August 28 following completion by Daewoo.
  • MSC Arina, 23,656 TEUs, to phase in at Tianjin on the AE10/Silk service on September 16 following completion by Daewoo.
  • MSC Leni, 23,756 TEUs, to phase in at Tianjin on the AE10/Silk service on September 23 following completion by Samsung.
  • MSC Nela, 23,656 TEUs, to phase in at Tianjin on the AE10/Silk service on November 11 following completion by Daewoo.

 

AE10/Silk service port rotation is Tianjin, Qingdao, Kwangyang, Ningbo, Shanghai, Yantian, Tanjung Pelepas, (Suez), Algeciras, Bremerhaven, Gdansk, Bremerhaven, Rotterdam, (Suez), Tanjung Pelepas, Shanghai and Tianjin. AE2/Swan service port rotation is Qingdao, Busan, Ulsan, Ningbo, Yantian, Tanjung Pelepas, (Suez), Rotterdam, Felixstowe, Antwerp, Rotterdam, Tangier, Algeciras, (Suez), Singapore, Hong Kong, Shanghai and Qingdao.
