MAJOR CHINESE PORTS SAW VOLUMES RISE BY 3.5% IN EARLY JULY

Container volumes at some major ports in China saw a slight increase in July — sustaining the rise recorded in June.
 
Container volumes in China's eight biggest ports, for example, rose 3.4% year-on-year in early July. In Guangzhou port, it increased by 10% and at Xiamen port. a slight rise of 1.5% was recorded.
 
The same ports registered a volume growth of 3.57% in late June compared to levels seen in mid-June. That time, container export volumes were up 3.11% — while growth rate at Dalian port, Guangzhou port and SCCT terminal of Shenzhen port all topped 10%.
 
Meanwhile, cargo throughput in July at the main coastal Chinese gateways expanded by 12.1% over last year's level as export throughput rose by 14.4%.
