SCHIPHOL CARGO CONTINUES ITS POSITIVE GROWTH IN 2026

Amsterdam Airport Schiphol handled 121,034 tonnes of air cargo in February 2026, extending the strong start to the year. This represents an 11% increase compared to February 2026.

 

The belly-full freighter split reached 43%/57%, with full freighters gaining three percentage points compared to the same month last year.

 

The current geopolitical developments in the Middle East are not yet reflected in the February cargo figures.

 

The inbound/outbound volumes were split 55%/45%. Inbound volumes showed strong growth from the Far East (27%), Middle East (26%) and Middle/South America (33%).

 

On the outbound side, Africa grew 9% year on year, volumes to the US remained below last year (6%), and volumes to the Far East decreased 2%.

Schipol said the top commodities in February included flowers, electrical machinery, fashion, fruit & vegetables, fish, pharmaceuticals, and spare parts. 

 

It noted that the top 10 cargo destinations from Amsterdam in 2025 are: Shanghai (PVG), Doha (DOH), Nairobi (NBO), Guangzhou (CAN), Istanbul (IST), Seoul (ICN), Hong Kong (HKG), Abu Dhabi (AUH), Dubai (DXB), and Quito (UIO) in Ecuador.

 

In addition to air cargo tonnages, Schiphol handled 35,975 tonnes of Road Feeder Service cargo (trucked air cargo), representing nearly a quarter of total cargo volume.

 

Maastricht Airport — Schiphol's seventh runway — handled 3,449 tonnes of air cargo, representing 48% year-on-year growth.
