Wilson Kwong, the current chief executive of Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminals Limited (Hactl) — the largest independent air cargo handler at Hong Kong International Airport — will step down in January 2026 to join Hong Kong's MTR Corporation.
"This was a very difficult decision for me, after eight wonderful years leading the world's definitive air cargo ground handler; but I feel the time is right to take up a new challenge outside the air cargo arena, and to make way for a new leader to stamp their own mark on this iconic business," Kwong said in a statement following MTR's announcement of his new role.
"I am proud to be leaving Hactl in the best possible shape, a team which is dedicated, hard-working and simply the best in the business."
"I would like to thank them all for the parts they play every day in this company's sustained success," he added, noting that his departure next year, he will continue to work with his team to deliver the service excellence for which Hactl has become renowned.

Hactl said a successor to Kwong will be announced in due course.
On November 3, Hong Kong's MTR Corporation announced that Kwong will be appointed as Hong Kong Transport Services Director and a Member of the Executive Directorate of the Corporation, with effect from January 28, 2026.
The corporation cited Kwong's versatility as a senior executive and his wealth of management experience starting his career as a management trainee with Jardine Matheson Group.
From 2012 to 2018, Kwong was the chief executive officer of Jardine Engineering Corporation (JEC), before taking on the CEO role at Hactl.
He is also a Member of The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, a Chartered Fellow of The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport in Hong Kong, and a Fellow of The Hong Kong Institute of Directors and serves as member of different committees of the HKSAR Government, including the Hong Kong Logistics Development Council, and the Land and Development Advisory Committee.
Dr. Jacob Kam, chief executive officer of MTR Corporation has welcomed Kwong as he succeeds Jeny Yeung who will assume the role of chief executive officer, also in January 2026.
"Kwong brings with him extensive management experience across various sectors including in engineering, aviation and logistics, real estate development and asset management. I am confident that he will lead the team to build upon our existing foundation to reach new heights and continue to enhance MTR's service standards to serve our passengers," Kam said.
