FRANKFURT AIRPORT SEES STEADY CARGO VOLUME GROWTH IN MARCH

Frankfurt Airport's (FRA) cargo volumes remained steady in March compared to a year ago, although higher than the previous month’s level.

March's cargo volumes — which include airfreight and air mail — was up 0.4% year-on-year to 185,486 metric tons, according to Fraport which operates Europe’s busiest cargo hub.

This is, however, higher than the 159,352 metric tons recorded in February.

March's cargo throughput is also higher than the January 2026 levels, when Frankfurt handled 150,044 metric tons.

It's also higher than the 173,610 metric tons recorded in December 2025, when peak‑season demand typically lifts throughput.

Aircraft movements in March declined by 1.1% with 34,892 takeoffs and landings.

Total maximum takeoff weights (or MTOWs) were around 2.2 million metric tons. This represented a year-on-year decrease of 1.9% compared to the same month in 2025.
