PORT OF OAKLAND ADDS PIL VIETNAM SERVICE

The Port of Oakland will add a direct connection with Vietnam later this month when Pacific International Lines launches its AC5 service.

According to the port, the service will be operated with 11,900 TEU vessels in partnership with Cosco and Wan Hai.

The new AC5 service will have a port rotation of: Haiphong, Nansha, Hong Kong, Yantian, Long Beach, Oakland, Yantian, Haiphong.

“PIL’s new direct service from the Port of Oakland is a good sign of increasing demand on Vietnam routes,” said John Driscoll, maritime director of the Port of Oakland. “Vietnam is showing strong growth in its import and export markets.”

Vietnam was the Port of Oakland’s third-largest import market and fifth-largest export market in 2018. Since 2015, American export volumes to Vietnam from Oakland have grown by 126% while imports from Vietnam into Oakland have grown 29%.
