PORT OF HK CONTAINER THROUGHPUT UP FOR THE SECOND MONTH IN A ROW

The Port of Hong Kong has recently reported improving volumes in July, marking an increase for the second month in a row.

Data showed that the Port handled 1.6 million TEUs in July, or 3.3% more boxes compared to the same month last year.

Specifically, throughput at the Kwai Tsing Terminals rose by 7.2% at 1.226 million TEUs, although mid-stream operators did not enjoy the same increase and instead recorded volumes falling by 9.2% at 335,000 TEUs that month.

A month prior, Hong Kong Port also recorded an improvement in volumes.

In June, data showed that the Port saw a 2.8% year-on-year increase in throughput, halting 19 months of continued decline in throughput.
