CMA CGM NAMES ESRA BORA AS NEW GENERAL MANAGER IN CHINA
June 24, 2025

CMA CGM has appointed Esra Bora as general manager of its China operations, effective June 1, 2025, as the French shipping group sharpens its focus on Greater China, a key market in its global network.

Bora brings more than two decades of experience in shipping and logistics, with a career spanning Europe, the Middle East and Asia. She joined CMA CGM in 2018 and has since held several senior roles, including general manager of CMA CGM Vietnam, head of the Europe region, vice president of global sales and customer experience, and managing director of CMA CGM Turkey.

Before joining CMA CGM, Bora spent over 10 years at A.P. Moller – Maersk, where she held leadership positions in Turkey, China and the Eastern Mediterranean region.

Bora succeeds Adeline Franger Chouraqui, who has been named CEO of CMA CGM America.

"After an incredible journey in Vietnam, I'm excited and honoured to take on the role of General Manager of CMA CGM China. As I step into this new chapter in China, one of the most dynamic and strategic markets for CMA CGM, I am excited and look forward to working closely with our talented teams, valued customers, and trusted partners to accelerate growth, drive innovation, and contribute to the transformation of global logistics," Bora said.

In her new role, Bora will oversee business development and strategy across mainland China and Hong Kong. Her appointment reflects the company's broader push to localize decision-making and adapt to shifting trade patterns and regulatory environments in Asia.
