Ocean Network Express (ONE) and MTI have created a new joint venture called QUAVEO in Ho Chi Minh City to speed up the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in container shipping.
Launched in December 2025, QUAVEO is designed to drive digital transformation across operations and business models by combining the two companies' technology and industry expertise to develop new AI‑based tools and use cases.
ONE, one of the world's largest container carriers which operates more than 260 vessels serving over 120 countries, said that as the shipping industry faces rising pressure to improve efficiency, meet diverse customer needs, and address challenges such as labor shortages and decarbonization, demand for AI‑driven digital transformation is accelerating.
Meanwhile, MTI brings long-standing expertise in AI development and digital services for consumers, businesses, and governments. Its approach to "AI‑driven DX" focuses on reshaping business models and operations with AI at the core, rather than simply digitizing existing processes.
To combine these strengths, ONE and MTI established QUAVEO to develop practical AI solutions and create new value for the shipping sector and beyond. The company will cultivate AI‑skilled talent familiar with frontline operations and rapidly deploy tools that improve efficiency, customer experience, and automation.
ONE and MTI said QUAVEO's business activities include developing AI‑based optimization tools for vessel planning, equipment operations, and logistics processes; providing AI services that enhance customer experience through automated inquiries and personalized support; supporting business automation through AI agents for routine and back‑office tasks; training and developing AI talent within client organizations to build sustainable DX capabilities; and offering AI solutions to external industries such as distribution and manufacturing.
The name "QUAVEO" blends elements of quality, quantity, idea, and evolution, reflecting creativity, growth, and a unified identity for its international team.
Looking ahead, QUAVEO aims to help companies turn vast amounts of business data into real value. With the ability to move beyond proof‑of‑concept projects and deploy AI solutions that withstand real‑world complexity, the company will leverage technologies such as generative AI and large language models to expand its services across multiple industries and drive broader digital transformation.
"While the volume of business data has exploded in recent years, efficiently harnessing these vast assets to generate revenue remains a significant challenge. This gap represents a massive, untapped market for AI-driven DX," the announcement said.
It added that to monetize AI effectively, companies need to move beyond the Proof of Concept (PoC) stage. Success requires robust solutions capable of withstanding complex, real-world operations, supported by an agile implementation structure.
"QUAVEO draws on the deep expertise ONE and MTI have cultivated through joint AI development in the complex arena of global shipping. Our core strength lies in our agility to rapidly apply cutting-edge technologies, such as Generative AI and Large Language Models (LLMs)."
"Leveraging these strengths, we will expand our services beyond the maritime industry to sectors like distribution and manufacturing, driving digital transformation across society."
