October 30, 2017

Known as va-Q-tainers, the containers are now available at Lufthansa Cargo’s stations around the world for customers with pharmaceutical shipments.

“We are delighted to be able to offer the innovative va-Q-tainer directly to our customers,” said Alexis von Hoensbroech [left in photo], head of product and sales at Lufthansa Cargo. “The broad portfolio of Lufthansa Cargo is thus being expanded to include an excellent choice in the passive refrigeration segment.”

The va-Q-tainers come in five different sizes and are capable of maintaining six temperature ranges from -70°C to +25°C without external energy sources.

“Our thermal containers provide five days’ temperature stability under even the most challenging conditions,” said Joachim Kuhn [right in photo], CEO of va-Q-tec. “These high-performance containers will now be directly available through Lufthansa Cargo. This will have a very positive effect on Germany as the fourth-largest pharmaceutical market in the world. We are very proud to have won Lufthansa Cargo as a strong partner not only in Germany but also in Asia, India, the USA and South America.”

Lufthansa Cargo recently expanded its Cool Center at its Frankfurt hub. The carrier also introduced a reflective film in July 2017 to protect temperature-sensitive shipments from sunlight and launched its Road Feeder Service Cool solution in May 2017.
