DEUGRO LOOKS TO FOCUS ON WIND, RENEWABLES AS IT MARKED 100 YEARS
February 9, 2024

Heavy lift and project cargo company, deugro, is strengthening its focus on the green energy sector as it marks its 100-year presence.

Family-run deugro — established in 1924 in Frankfurt am Main, Germany — said in a statement that it had been steadily increasing its focus on new industries in recent years.

"The deugro team could not be more pleased to be marking the start of this milestone anniversary in a region that perfectly underscores the rapidly evolving and growing renewables sector," said Steffen Behrens, president of Middle East deugro.

"Doubling down on our efforts to support the booming global energy transition landscape is a natural next step in our evolution, and we are excited to be able to provide the technical skills, specialist assets, and wealth of experience to support the industry at this critical time," he added.

deugro, which first entered the Middle East market in Saudi Arabia in June 1982, today has eight regional offices in five countries, with the additional countries being the UAE, Bahrain, Oman, and Qatar.

In addition to supporting several large solar farms across the Middle East, deugro recently completed transporting several super heavy lift cargoes for the world’s largest green hydrogen plant located in Saudi Arabia, which will, in the end, power green ammonia production for export.

Thomas Wylie, head of global strategic projects, deugro, said it remains more committed than ever to driving innovation and supply chain and logistics excellence, as it capitalises on more than a century of expertise.

deugro runs a network of over 70 company-owned offices in more than 40 countries and provides services in project freight forwarding, ocean transportation, transport and marine engineering, and heavy haulage and equipment management.
