Cargo volumes at Frankfurt Airport fell by 2.3% year-over-year in June 2025, totaling 174,262 metric tons, according to Fraport's latest traffic figures.
The decline reflects ongoing challenges in the airfreight sector, including weaker demand, inland transport disruptions, and earlier inventory frontloading by shippers.
The amount of cargo handled by the airport in June is also less than the 178,977 metric tons of airfreight and airmail volumes it reported in May.
The figure is, however, better than the 169,563 metric tons recorded in April, according to Fraport, which operates Europe's busiest cargo hub.
June's cargo volume was less than the 184,679 metric tons recorded in March. It is, however, higher than the 152,069 metric tonnes recorded in February and the 148,321 metric tonnes recorded by the airport in January.

Despite the monthly dip, overall cargo throughput for the first half of the year remained stable at 1 million metric tons, matching 2024 levels.
For the period, aircraft movements rose by 4.9% year-on-year to 41,423 takeoffs and landings in June (219,246 aircraft movements, up 3.3% for the first half of the year).
Similarly, total maximum takeoff weights (MTOWs) increased by 2.3% year-on-year in June to approximately 2.5 million metric tons during the reporting month. It was up 2.2% to 13.6 million metric tons in the January to June period.
