Japan Airlines emerged as the top performer at this year's Hactl International Forklift and Pallet Building Competition, an event that highlights operational safety and ground‑handling skills across the air cargo sector. The fifteenth edition, held at SuperTerminal 1 in Hong Kong, brought together teams from 10 international airlines.
Teams from 10 global carriers participated in the fifteenth Hactl International Forklift and Pallet Building Competition at SuperTerminal 1, where the focus was on safe and accurate cargo‑handling practices.
The forklift segment tested contestants' ability to navigate complex, terminal‑style courses, while the pallet‑building portion required teams to assemble cargo within one hour in line with IATA standards and industry guidelines.
Hactl said around 300 spectators attended, with teams representing Air Canada, Cargolux, China Southern Airlines, Emirates SkyCargo, EVA Air, Finnair, IAG Cargo, Japan Airlines, Nippon Cargo Airlines, SF Airlines and host Hactl.
Japan Airlines won the Overall Champion title and swept all major categories, including the Forklift Competition, Forklift Driving Safety Award, Pallet Building Competition and Best Cheering Team.
The event was attended by Liu Chun San, under secretary for Transport and Logistics; Cissy Chan, executive director, commercial, Airport Authority Hong Kong; Wan Chi Ping, assistant commissioner for Labour (Occupational Safety), Labour Department; and Bonnie Yau, executive director, Occupational Safety and Health Council.
Hactl Acting Chief Executive Michelle Choi said safety remains a central focus for the company.
